Baby Shower #1 done

Today was Rachael's baby shower. Am I getting soft? I half way think she's going to be ok through this. I still don't agree with her having a baby at her age though (pregnant at 15). I mean is it really her decision to have the baby or is it more to satisfy her mother. Her mom is a wonderful woman don't get me wrong and she loves babies and would love to have another now that her youngest of five children is now 6 years old.

I still think it's going to be a bit of a reality shock when the baby is actually here. I know she was involved with taking care of her siblings since she is the oldest, but watching them for a little while is very different than BEING the mom. She is due in January. Her plan is to finish school. Get a job. Move out. Good plan..... right?

My brother is upset about the situation and it is the cause of many disagreements between him and his wife. He thinks she should move out now since she's responsible enough to have a baby she should be responsible enough to take care of it and her on here own. Now I know that will never happen and I don't think it should for the safety of Rachael and the baby. After speaking with him, I think what my brother thinks should happen is more like a "tough love" approach. He thinks she's getting everything handed to her and done for her and it's just too easy. I agree with that.

This and that

I can't believe it's been a tad over a month since my knee surgery. I'm doing much better in regards to the knee pain and we've been strengthening the crud out of my hamstrings. But, I'm having a LOT of pain with what my PT calls the "external hip rotator". Basically say I'm sitting in a chair like normal and take my right leg and lift my left leg up from next to my right and lift it while keeping it next to my left leg. This causes that rotator hip to "engage" and causes a really bad sharp pain. Unfortunately, in my past experience a sharp pain is never a good thing. My PT seems to be in a bit of a quandary as to what else we can do to eliminate it too. So we started doing more ice and more ultra sounds. The hamstrings are still quite sore, but definitely stronger. Enough of that nonsense.

I'm doing TAW (temporary alternative work) at work. It's boring but I've been filling in the boring times with my exercises on non-PT days, knitting, yakking, swimming on lunch, and for a few days not I've gone over to the offices and helped with some filing. At least I'm breaking up my day!

Ahhh, the knitting. I'm sooooo close to being done with the baby blanket for my cousin, Linda. The shower is Sunday! I'm cutting it close. The blanket looks really, really good! I have one more stripe of colors done that aren't pictured in the above picture.

What's that growing on your knee?

"Knobby Knee" - Yes, that thingy growing there apparently is a cyst. Dr. Anderson didn't seem to be too concerned about it though and basically said not to play with it and it should go away on it's own.

In addition to my description as "knobby" I've had it called a "third eye", a "nose", and even a "tit". That's a pretty small tit and a very peculiar place to grow a nose or an eye so I still refer to as simply "old knobby". It appeared about 2 weeks post op and today it's much much smaller, still visible but not glaringly obvious. Whew!
