Embossed Vine and Leaves Sampler Afghan Square

Embossed Vine and Leaves
[44sts x 60 rows]

Pattern: Embossed Vine

I think I figured out how to decrease the size of the hole on the left side of the leaves; on the last leaf of course. So to close that gap the YO are wrapped backward on rows 10, 12, 22 and 24.

There is a 10st selvage on each side of the pattern. The first of every row is slipped purlwise (SL1pw) and the last st of every row is purled. There are 4sts in seed st and 5 sts in the background st. So it is worked as:
Odd Rows (WS) SL1pw, K1, P1 (twice), K5, work pattern row, K5, P1, K1 (twice), P1
Even Rows (RS) SL1pw, K1, P1 (twice), P5, work pattern row, P5, P1, K1 (twice), P1
Instructions:

Work pattern rows with borders 13-24, then rows 1-24 twice.

Valentine Cable Sampler Afghan Square

Valentine Cable
[42sts x 58]

Pattern: Valentine Cable

I didn't much care for the way the bottom of the middle loop looked on this pattern. After playing with it a bit I decided that row 8 needs to be worked as follows:
Row 8: P3, BC, P1, hold 1 to back on cable needle, K1, K1 from cable needle, P1, FC, P3
There is a lot of border around the actual pattern. I worked 8 sts on each side of the actual pattern and a 5 stitch seed stitch edge.

The pattern with the borders would be worked liked this:
SL1pw,  k1, p1, k1, p1, k8, pattern (16sts), k8, p1, k1, p1, k1, p1
SO...

CO 42
Work 4 rows of *K1, P1* to end
Work pattern rows 1-19 once with the borders as indicated above, then 4-19 twice
Work 4 rows of *K1, P1* to end

Chain Links Sampler Afghan Square

Chain Links
[50sts x 60 rows]
[Fix = 56 x 61]

Pattern: Chain Links

Fix:

Reading the chart you can see there are 2 chain links being charted. Using only 1/2 of the pattern, knit 5 chain links across. So it's worked over 10 sts rather than 20.

Work a 3 st border slipping 1st and purling last and the other two are in seed st.

Begin pattern working row 12 (WS) with border on ends
Continue working pattern rows 1-12 five times
BO purlwise

Irish Moss Diamonds Sampler Afghan Square

Irish Moss Diamonds[38sts x 53 rows]

Pattern: Irish Moss Diamonds

Since I wanted the pattern to be more centered I wrote up a chart to follow. So follow the chart.

The first stitch is slipped purlwise and the last st is purled of every row. These two sts are not shown in the chart above.
CO 38
Rows 1-16
Odd Rows (RS) - Follow the chart above
Even rows - Knit the knit stitches and purl the purl stitches as they face you
Repeat the 16 rows of the pattern a totoal of 3 times, then work rows 1-4 once

Ok, the fix:

Celtic Braid Sampler Afghan Stitch

Celtic Braid with Wide Mock Rib
[48sts x 60 rows; tad narrow - add just 2 sts to CO]

Pattern: Celtic Braid

For this pattern I worked the "guts" of the "Wide Mock Rib" on each side of the celtic pattern.

A better fit would be:

Work the Celtic Pattern (Celtic) a total of 3 times and Wide Mock Rib (Rib) a total of 12 times then just rows 1 - 12; a new repeat of the Rib begins after each 4th row of the Celtic pattern is completed. In otherwords there are 4 Rib pattern repeats worked for every 1 Celtic pattern repeat. The Celtic pattern is 16 rows, the Rib is 4 rows.

(Border) row of 6 sts on each side of the Rib. On the RS it is begins SL1, K3, P2 and ends with P2, K3, P1. On the WS it is SL1, K5 at the beginning of the row and ends with K5, P1.

SP1 = K1 on WS, P1 on RS

CO 50
Purl 1 row (RS)

Border, Rib, SP1, Celtic, Sp1, Rib, Border (50sts)
Work celtic pattern as above 3 times, then rows 1-12

Knit 1 row

Dew Drop Sampler Afghan Stitch

Dew Drop
[40 x 58; way too narrow. Redo =  48 x 60]

Pattern: Dew Drop

In the square I worked up, I added a 12 st border to each side of the pattern with the first st being slipped and the last stitch being purled on every row.

This square =

Purl side is RS
Border = 12 sts as described above

CO 40
Pattern:  Border, pattern rows 1-12, Border
Repeat pattern rows 4 times, then rows 1 - 10 once
BO purlwise

FIX SQUARE:

Border should be 16 sts on each side with the 4 sts before and after the 1st slipped and last purled being in garter stitch. So a RS would read SL1, K4, P11, pattern, P11, K4, P1. Obviously there is enough filler space to either do two dew drops side by side or work in a cable on each side of  a single column of dew drops.

CO 46
Purl 1 row
Knit 1 row
Border pattern (16sts), Pattern row 3-12 (16sts), Border (16sts) (12 rows)
Continue working pattern rows 1-12 three times through completely (48 rows)
Work rows 1-10 of pattern once (58 rows)
Knit 1 row
Purl 1 row

A non-hash related Beer Mile!

This time it wasn't even the hashers that put on this event; although there are 3 hashers participating. Oh, and other than the one all-state track guy, the 3 hashers are the fastest. With this competition however, it's not the fastest that always wins.

GO!The rules: You have 4 beers of your choice. The beer must be in a can and drank from the can with altering the can this means no shot gunning, no cups, no straws, etc. Each participant must drink one complete beer before starting the next lap. So you drink a beer and run a lap then drink a beer and run a lap; so in all you drink 4 beers and run 4 laps. (A lap is 1/4 mile). If you puke, you must run one additional lap after the 4th lap before you are considered across the line; no more than 4 beers must be consumed though. In this race it was determined that the beer must be finished before crossing the next line, which was about 20' from the start. This allows running and drinking at the same time.

Getting the rules straightNick, aka Drunkorexic crosses the finish line first with a time of 6:27 (I think - I'm waiting on the official time) and no puking penalty lap! Believe me though, there was plenty of puking going on. I have a long video of the race, but I would'nt want to gross everyone by posting pictures of the puking... it was funny as hell though!
